As if the pandemic was not enough, here we come to face or should I say create a new social issue within the parameters of social distancing “the corona the new untouchables”. Somehow we as a society have managed to tackle the issue in our own way by barring the corona health workers and corona positives into our hearts and our societies. What has gone wrong with us? We and they are as much a part of the same problems and solutions. How can you possibly separate the solutions from the problems? Possible? Or, we don’t have a problem with this new taboo of “corona untouchables”? Would the situation be any different if we are on the other side of this fear? Really? So, for now are we wanting to accept the new caste “Corona-the new untouchables”?
Why is it coming from the well educated people like most of us? Has education nothing to do with this? Or, are we just so engrossed in saving ourselves that it has stopped bothering us anymore? Or, is this a “New Normal”?
Point being, we need to stop this discrimination against the “corona warriors”, the “corona survivors” and their families. We as a country stood against the age old caste system which prevailed for hundreds of years, then why stop now or why create one in the first place? Why not make it a revolution and pledge not to support this discrimination and talk it out with people, the RWAs and put up a fight against this whole new fiasco amidst a world wide pandemic we are already trying to deal with.
Social distancing in this case has taken a completely wrong turn absurdly in a very wrong direction on how we deal with this new caste “C the Untouchables”. the scare from the virus has spread like a virus into our minds and mindsets, so lets not make it scarier for the people dealing with it or the people recovering from it. It’s a very sad state of affairs when a son refuses to perform last rites on his corona infected father’s dead body. We are not even animals!! often as they are seen doing the bravest acts of saving, nurturing and burying their own dead. Science says “man is an intelligent animal”, is it true? maybe, as we are digging our own graves before be even die, right? intelligent enough to create and recreate a new mental trauma, How he uses that intelligence is an all together a different ball game!! AND when as we speak, you could be the next!! So harvest and cultivate that mindset for yourself in your favour for your future before you are quarantined next and save your family from this ugly new cast “Corona The Untouchables”.
