The wedding season this year started with DeepVeer nuptials, followed by the fairytale wedding of Priyanka and Nick Jonas. Saving the best for the last, Anand Piramal and Isha Ambani’s sangeet and other pre-wedding functions were held over the weekend at Udaipur. The who’s who of entertainment, sports and business industry and political big-wigs descended on the lake city to be part of the grand celebrations.
Udaipur transformed for Isha & Anand’s Sangeet
The Oberoi Udai villas and the Lake Palace at Udaipur played hosts for the wedding functions. It kick-started with the Anna Seva for around 5100 people, feeding them thrice every day from 7-10th December. A traditional Indian art and craft form was displayed in a well organized ‘Swadesh bazaar’. It was also sold to provide the guests with a perfect shopping experience.
Glittering Stars at Maharana Pratap Airport
The airport saw intense activity with 200 chartered flights ferrying guests of the Ambani and Piramal family. From Karan Johar, Siddharth Roy Kapur-Vidya Balan, Varun Dhawan, Manish Malhotra, Sachin & Anjali Tendulkar, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan & Kiran Rao, Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja to the newlywed couples Ranvir Singh-Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas, and former US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton were in Udaipur to attend the sangeet and pre-wedding functions.
Beyoncé Steals the Show
With a number of celebrities descending on the lake city, Udaipur was shining bright with stars. A Maha Arti performed for Shri Nathji, the presiding deity, with Lake Pichola as a backdrop, was followed by the sangeet ceremony where apart from the doting parents, Nita & Mukesh, brothers Akash and Anant and the engaged couple; Shah Rukh Khan-Gauri, Abhishek & Aishwarya performed. But it was the queen, Beyoncé, stole the show with her killer moves and amazing voice.
