Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Promises Full Support to DU, Highlights Vision for Education Tourism

A felicitation ceremony was held on Friday at the Delhi University Convention Hall to honor Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Addressing the gathering, she assured that the Delhi Government would ensure that no university work is hindered due to administrative reasons. She also shared the government’s intention to promote education tourism in the city.

Reminiscing about her student days, Gupta said that Daulat Ram College played a key role in shaping her leadership journey. She recalled joining the college in 1993, a time marked by continuous student strikes. Her involvement with student politics began through interactions with DUSU representatives, eventually leading her to join ABVP. In her final year, she was elected President of DUSU.

She reflected emotionally on how she once rode a scooter through DU’s streets to attend political events, never imagining that one day, she would be responsible for improving those very roads. As an alumna, she affirmed her commitment to supporting the university in every possible way.

Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, speaking at the event, emphasized that DU and the Delhi Government would work hand in hand for future initiatives. He expressed pride in seeing a former DU student rise to such a prominent position and noted that both the university and her college shared in her success.

Several senior officials and dignitaries from DU were present at the event, including Prof. Payal Mago (Director, SOL), Dr. Savita Roy (Principal, Daulat Ram College), Proctor Rajni Abbi, South Campus Director Prof. Shriprakash Singh, and Dean of Student Welfare Prof. Ranjan Tripathi. Dr. Savita Roy welcomed the Chief Minister on behalf of the college.
