
Maruti Suzuki to Launch 10 New Cars in India Within 2017-2018
Here’s a complete list of upcoming new Maruti Cars in India that are expected to be launched in 2017 and 2018.
January 4, 2017 – Maruti Suzuki ended the previous year on a good note. Now, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is all prepared to kick-start 2017 with a big launch of the Maruti Ignis crossover. Besides this, the company has several new cars and facelifts in the pipeline that will be rolled out in the next couple of years.
1. Maruti Suzuki Ignis
Maruti Ignis compact SUV is, undoubtedly, among the most-awaited upcoming new Maruti cars in India. The crossover made its first public appearance in its concept form at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, and had its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo. Estimated to be priced around Rs 4.5 lakh – Rs 7 lakh, the Maruti Ignis will be a close rival of the Mahindra KUV100. To be produced with high-level of localization, the Ignis will be third Maruti product to be sold through Nexa dealerships. The crossover has a tall boy design, and features an aggressive front fascia, pronounced wheel arches and a high ground clearance.
In India, the Ignis will come in four trim levels – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha – and two engine options – 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel. While the petrol mill belts out power worth 81.8bhp and 113Nm of torque, the diesel motor is good for 74bhp and 190Nm. The crossover can be brought either with a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT gearbox.

2. Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS
Buoyed with the successful launch of the Baleno, Maruti Suzuki India is now gearing up to introduce a performance version of the hatchback. Called the Maruti Baleno RS, this hot hatch will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged BoosterJet petrol engine that generates a peak power of 110bhp and 170Nm of torque. Currently, this premium hatchback is available with a 1.2-litre VVT petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel powertrain options.

3. Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol
The Indo-Japanese carmaker that already sells the diesel variant of the Brezza will introduce its petrol iteration early this year. With the rising demand for petrol cars in India, this one too is among the most-awaited upcoming new Maruti cars in India.

4. Maruti Wagon R MPV
The seven-seater version of the hatchback will stand tall with a high ground clearance and have lots of comfort and safety to offer. Besides this, the affordable pricing (we believe) will work as cherry on the cake. The Maruti Wagon R 7-seater MPV will be positioned above the Eeco and below the Ertiga MPV. In India, this MPV will lock horns with the Datsun Go+. The Indo-Japanese carmaker might offer the Wagon R 7-seater MPV with two engine options – a 0.8-litre DDiS diesel unit, and a 1.2-litre K-Series or the Alto’s 1.0-litre K10 petrol motor.

5. Maruti Swift AMT
The Indo-Japanese carmaker will introduce an AMT-equipped version of the Swift sometime this year. To be available only on the diesel version of the hatchback, the Swift AMT will comes equipped with a Magneti Marelli-sourced automated manual gearbox. The same unit does duty in the Dzire compact sedan. Powering the Swift AMT will be the same a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine that makes 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque.

6. New Maruti Alto 800
In order to retains its top position in the entry-level segment, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is planning to introduce the new-generation model of its top-selling hatchback – Alto 800. The 2017 Maruti Alto might be based on an all-new lightweight platform, and carry an entirely different exterior and interior design. This new platform will not only make it lighter and faster than the current model, but improve its fuel efficiency as well.

7. New-Generation Maruti Swift
Based on the Baleno’s platform, the new Maruti Swift will be lighter than the current model. Engine options for the new Swift will include the same 1.2-litre K-series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit. The former makes 83bhp with 115Nm of torque, and the latter one produces 74bhp with 190Nm. There will be two transmissions on offer – a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. Since it’s the new-generation model of the country’s most successful B-segment hatchback, it is surely one of the most important upcoming new Maruti cars in India.

8. New-Generation Maruti Swift Dzire
Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is all set to enter into its third generation during this year’s festive season. The new-gen Dzire will be based on the Baleno’s platform that will make it lighter and safer than the existing model. The updated model will get a large hexagonal grille, new headlamp clusters, revised bumpers, Baleno-inspired front fenders and wraparound taillights.

9. Maruti Ciaz 2017
First launched in 2014, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will receive its first makeover in the year 2017. One of the most anticipated upcoming new Maruti Cars in India, the 2017 Ciaz is expected to be more up-market than the current-gen model. While the company might retain the existing 1.3-litre SHVS diesel unit, speculations are on rife that the mid-size sedan will come with a more powerful 1.5-litre M15 engine.

10. Maruti Swift Sport
The new-generation Suzuki Swift Sport was recently previewed in the Japanese market. Reports suggest that the new Swift Sport might also hit the Indian shores towards the end of this year or early next year. This performance version of the Swift hatchback will source its power from a 1.4-litre K14C Boosterjet engine churning out 138.07bhp with 220 of torque. The new Maruti Swift Sport sits on the brand’s new lightweight platform that has already been used for the Baleno hatch. With features like new grille, sporty bumpers, pronounced wheel arches, roof rails and roof-mounted spoiler, the Swift Sport looks sportier than the regular model.
