After winning two back to back ODI matches, Ind lost their third match by 32 runs. Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper played well, as he scored 123 precious runs while chasing target of 314 runs on board.
Kohli had three short partnerships. 59 runs with Dhoni for the fourth wicket, 88 runs with Jadhav for the fifth and 45 runs with Vijay Shankar for the sixth, but none were good enough to take India across to win their third match as well as the series.
Rohit Sharma (14), Shikhar Dhawan (1) and Ambati Rayudu (2) were dismissed earlier as India was left three big wickets at just 27 runs.
After winning the toss, Aus elected to bat first. Ushman Khawaja (93) and caption of Australian team Aron Finch (104) batted outstanding. Maxwell’s inning was also outstanding as he contributed 47 runs in just 31 balls and helped Aus to win their first match of this series.
Indian attackers, Ravindra Jadeja (0/64 in 10 overs) and Kedar Jadhav (0/32 in 2 overs) were not effective enough to pressurize Australian batsmen. However, Kuldeep Yadav (3/64 in 10 overs) balled well.
