World no. one women’s double player Sania Mirza and her inexperienced partner Prarthana Thombare got defeated in their very first round of Tennis women’s double event. They were competing against Chinese pair, Shuai Zhang and Shuai Peng.
Though Sania and Prarthana offered a stiff match to their experienced opponent, still in the 2 hours 44 minutes match they lost by 6-7, 7-5, 5-7 at the end. Now, India’s hope remains to the mixed double in which Sania and Rohan Bopana will be in partnership. In fact, India has good hopes from this event.
